Subhrajyoti De
Subhrajyoti De
Kolkata, India
“I didn’t need pedals or perfect tone—I just needed six strings to say what words never could.”
He was just eight when a battered Hobner from Kolkata’s Chor Bazaar became his teacher. The strings cut into his fingers like wire, but he didn’t flinch. Music wasn’t just a hobby—it was his voice. Born into a home where melodies floated through the air, but life didn’t always go easy, he fought every step: no gear, power cuts, a devastating personal loss. But through it all, the guitar remained—a scream, a prayer, a way forward. From gritty YouTube sessions on a dying internet connection to crafting his own sound influenced by Petrucci, Tosin, and Sleep Token, he’s grown into a force of raw emotion and technical fire. Today, his mission is simple: put Indian prog and fusion on the global map, and make sure no kid with a beat-up guitar feels like they’re playing alone.
