Volume 7 - Featuring Sreeram Vijay
"The Carnatic Riffweaver"
"I didn’t just learn to play; I learned to listen to music, to emotion, and to myself."
What began as a break from vocal training soon became a deep and lasting connection with the guitar. Growing up in a Carnatic music household, Sreeram’s journey started in the ninth grade with a red-burst Crusader acoustic, a gift from his supportive father and inspired by a school senior who could shred like Slash.
Originally advised to rest his voice, he turned to the guitar, first under the guidance of Vibin, then through countless YouTube tutorials. With roots in Indian classical music and a growing love for hard rock and metalcore, he taught himself the riffs of Guns N’ Roses, ERRA, and Skyharbor.
Encouraged by his family and friends, Sreeram poured his energy into exploring tone, melody, and expression. Though he learned mostly on his own, he learned to trust his instincts and develop his unique sound.
Today, he fuses Carnatic melodies with progressive metal, drawing influence from Indian bands like Pineapple Express and Bloodywood. Whether performing at private gigs or delivering high-energy live sets, his goal remains simple: play with honesty, keep evolving, and inspire others to do the same.
His message to aspiring guitarists is clear: protect the joy that first drew you to the instrument, and always show up with sincerity. That is where true growth begins.

TIGA was born from the union of science and sound.
I’m a neuroscientist and a lifelong guitarist — and I’ve always believed that every guitar player holds a story worth telling. Whether it begins in a bedroom, a village gig, or a crowded stage, each journey is unique, honest, and incredibly human.
This platform was created to celebrate that — to bring together diverse tones, styles, and lives into one evolving archive. Your support makes this possible. Your stories make it unforgettable.
Together, we’re stringing a billion dreams.
The Indian Guitar Archives (TIGA) is India’s first archive of guitarists — an online platform and digital magazine that documents the voices, stories, and sounds of guitar players across the country. From seasoned professionals to self-taught beginners, TIGA is dedicated to sharing the heartfelt journeys behind the strings — their inspirations, struggles, influences, and triumphs.
This is more than just a magazine. It’s a movement to spotlight and support guitarists from every corner of India — to preserve their artistry, amplify their voices, and build a community rooted in passion and performance. If you’re a guitarist and would like to be featured, drop us an email — we’d love to hear your story and strum it into the world.
